Is There Something We Can Do?
A little background on the church of Christ and who we are
Christ built one church, the body, also called the ‘kingdom’ with Himself as the head.
I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. Matthew 16:18
There is one body and one Spirit- just as you were called to one hope when you were called- one Lord, one faith, one baptism; Ephesians 4:4-5
And he is the head of the body, the church; Colossians 1:18
God adds you to Christ’s church through baptism, the word itself meaning ‘immersion’
Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38
Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. Acts 2:41
And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:47
Having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead. Colossians 2:12
Children have no need to be baptized. It is we who must become like them!
But Jesus called the children to him and said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these". Luke 18:16
We believe that by planting the same seed in this century that Jesus planted in the first century, what grows will be Christ's church. After all, God says each seed reproduces after its own kind (1 Corinthians 15:38). The same seed of corn planted in the first century will grow corn if planted in our century. It's been done. We know the seed is the Word of God. Luke 8:11, "Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God". Enough said? Would you like to belong to the church that Christ built?
The church of Christ has no headquarters
save that in heaven
When Jesus returns He will be taking His and only His church
back there with Him
(1 Corinthians 15:24)
As a congregation we independently determine our own path in the light of the bible.
As individual Christians we do the same.
We believe the bible to be God’s Word, the only and final authority.
We speak where the bible speaks and remain silent where it is silent.
We are the church of Christ found in Romans 16:16, ‘The churches of Christ greet you’.
It was at Antioch that followers of Christ were first called Christians. Acts 11:26, 'The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch'.
While there are many descriptions given His followers, Christian is the only 'name' pertaining to Christ ever used. Check also in 1 Peter 4:16.
Finally, Acts 26:28-29, Then Agrippa said to Paul, "Do you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?" Paul replied, "Short time or long — I pray God that not only you but all who are listening to me today may become what I am, except for these chains." Except for those chains, we too endeavour in our century, only to be Christian.
for taking the time to read this!
Rest assured, we do our very best to worship and study as close as possible to the pattern and teaching
of the New Testament
“God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth"
