And finally, as it will indeed be final (John 12:48),

And Jesus cried out and said, "He who believes in Me, does not believe in Me but in Him who sent Me. 45 He who sees Me sees the One who sent Me. I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness. If anyone hears My sayings and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.

48 He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.

For I did not speak on My own initiative, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak. I know that His commandment is eternal life; therefore the things I speak, I speak just as the Father has told Me." John 12:44-50, NASU

Wow! Does it get any plainer than that?

But if that doesn't do it for you, there's more, much more! Look deep inside your heart or perhaps even better- find a

mirror and ask yourself this question, His question...

"Why do you call Me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?

Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built (Luke 6:46-48, NASU).

For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 3:11, NKJV).

But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly, is like a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great." (Luke 6:47-49, NASU).

Mirror, mirror so on the wall

Will my house stand, or will it fall?

Thought I succeeded, I dug real deep

Now but to collapse, into a heap

Thus having failed, to build on the rock?

The fault is mine, not walking the talk!

So woe is me, for having ears but not hearing

For want of God's wisdom, my conscience is searing!

Having built fame, fortune and future, on a house of cards

Should you fare any better, I pray, give God my regards

Matthew 16:16-18, "Simon Peter (Greek-Petros, small pebble, a 'piece of rock -literally or figuratively', feminine gender) answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." (in fact, thee 'rock' versus Peter- keep reading))

17 And Jesus said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 I also say to you that you are Peter (Greek-Petros, small pebbles, a 'piece' of rock-literally or figuratively, feminine gender), and upon this rock (Greek-Petra, large foundational rock, a 'mass' of rock- literally or figuratively, masculine gender) I will build My church/kingdom; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. NASU

Thus Jesus was saying, inasmuch as you are Peter and know you are Peter, I am Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God, as even God the Father and the Holy Spirit bore witness to. Mark 1:9-11, "In those days Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. Immediately coming up out of the water, He saw the heavens opening, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him; and a voice came out of the heavens:" You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased. NASU

See also, Matthew 3:17; 17:5; Mark 1:11; 9:7; 12:6; Luke 3:22; 20:13; Colossians 1:13; 2 Peter 1:17

1 Corinthians 10:4,  "and all drank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking from a spiritual rock (Greek-Petra, large foundational rock, 'mass' of rock, masculine gender) which followed them; and the rock (Greek-Petra, large foundational rock, a 'mass' of rock- literally or figuratively, masculine gender) was Christ. NASU

Ok, so we certainly know that Jesus is the rock (Petra- large foundational mass of rock). In fact, Paul writes, 1 Corinthians 3:11, "For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ", NASU. One doesn't have to read between the lines to understand that the one church was built by Christ on Christ, He being the Son of the living God. It was not built on Peter. Nor could the church have been built on any man, though not for lack of effort, past, present and probably future. Revisit the chart above if you need to.

Matthew 7:24, "Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock (Greek-Petra, large foundational rock, a 'mass' of rock- literally or figuratively, masculine gender). Matthew 7:24, NASU.

Time to connect the dots! Petros is from the Greek lithos (lee'-thos); a primary word; a stone (literally or figuratively): KJV - (mill-, stumbling-) stone. Like Petros, as in pebbles one would skip across the water, hardly a word that would be used regarding Jesus as the Way, the Truth and the Life i.e., akin to a millstone or stumbling stone to those wanting and seeking such. On the other hand was Peter who for all his good points, was the same Peter who was rebuked by Christ at times for having acted like a stumbling block, having denied Christ three times as he was being crucified and having been rebuked by Paul for being hypocritical- well need we say more? If one doesn't want to believe 'scripture', then for heaven's sake and yours, try a little bit of common sense, logic, rationality and reasoning. Great seasoning to add to any religious or secular recipe for that matter. Soup anybody? It's not 'duck' soup so there will be no 'quackers' with it though I do expect 'attitudinal and holdover diehards' to 'dodge or avoid' many points being made.

That said, as a sidebar all this sure rules out Peter as being the first Pope or anybody being a Pope for that matter.

Inasmuch as...

Jesus Christ's followers/disciples

were known as 'Christians'

Acts 11:26; 26:28; 1 Peter 4:16

Shouldn't that be enough for us?

Acts 4:12

Then He left the crowds and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him and said, "Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field."

And He said, "The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man and the field is the world

and as for the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom

and the tares are the sons of the evil one and the enemy who sowed them is the devil

and the harvest is the end of the age and the reapers are angels.

So just as the tares are gathered up and burned with fire. So shall it be at the end of the age.

The Son of Man will send forth His angels and they will gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks and those who commit lawlessness

and will throw them into the furnace of fire. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Then THE RIGHTEOUS WILL SHINE FORTH AS THE SUN in the kingdom of their Father.

He who has ears, let him hear.

Matthew 13:36-43
